Full Body Scanner Arrives At Mitchell International

WISN Milwaukee

The first full body scanner arrived is at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport. It’s one of four that will be installed at the airport.

The body scanners can detect weapons made with or without metal. The Transportation Safety Administration told12 News the scanners will increase security and decrease potential threats.

Passengers who 12 News talked with have mixed opinions.”I think privacy and security are important, but I also think people need to be asked if they want to go through the body scanner and not just presume that they will go through it,” passenger Shawnee Daniels-Sykes said.

“I think it’s good because I want to be safe and I think it’s, I don’t want another 9/11, so I am happy to have it,” passenger Pam Hanke said.

Passengers can choose not to go through the scanner.  Mitchell International is one of 44 U.S. airports to have the full body scanners.
